Extremity Adjustments
When most people think about chiropractic care, they think about the spine. But after treating thousands of patients over the years, I've learned that many painful conditions don't actually start in the spine at all.
In many cases, the real problem is found in the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, or feet.
That's why extremity adjusting has become one of the cornerstones of care at Integrative Chiropractic and Extremities (ICE). We believe that if you want the body to function properly, you can't just focus on the spine—you have to evaluate and treat the entire movement system.
Extremity adjustments are specialized chiropractic techniques designed to restore proper motion, stability, and function to the joints outside of the spine. These adjustments can help improve mobility, reduce pain, enhance muscle function, and correct movement compensations that may be contributing to your symptoms.
We commonly use extremity adjustments to help patients suffering from:
Chronic shoulder pain
Rotator cuff injuries
Frozen shoulder
Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow
Wrist pain and carpal tunnel syndrome
Hip pain and mobility restrictions
Knee pain and runner's knee
Ankle sprains and instability
Plantar fasciitis
Tendonitis and bursitis
Sports injuries and repetitive stress conditions
One of the things that makes ICE different is that extremity care isn't an add-on service—it's a fundamental part of how we evaluate and treat patients.
Many healthcare providers focus only on the area that hurts. We take a different approach. We look at how the entire body works together because a dysfunctional foot can affect the knee, a dysfunctional knee can affect the hip, and a dysfunctional shoulder can contribute to neck pain and headaches.
The body functions as one interconnected system.
As one of the few Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioners (CCEPs) in southeastern Washington, I've received advanced training through the Council on Extremity Adjusting to evaluate and treat extremity dysfunction at a much deeper level. This specialized training allows us to identify movement restrictions, muscle inhibition patterns, and compensation strategies that are often overlooked in traditional evaluations.
At ICE, we've taken this concept even further by developing our Functional Extremity Assessment (FEA), a comprehensive system designed to evaluate how your extremities and spine work together as a complete movement system.
Rather than simply asking, "Where does it hurt?" we ask:
Why is it hurting?
What is causing the compensation?
Which joints aren't functioning properly?
Which muscles have stopped doing their job?
How is this affecting the rest of the body?
By answering those questions, we can create a treatment plan that addresses the root cause rather than simply chasing symptoms.
Every visit is an opportunity to improve how your body moves, functions, and performs. That's why we evaluate movement patterns from head to toe and incorporate extremity adjustments whenever they're needed—not just when pain shows up in a specific joint.
If you're struggling with shoulder pain, knee pain, plantar fasciitis, ankle instability, carpal tunnel symptoms, or chronic movement limitations, extremity dysfunction may be the missing piece of the puzzle.
At Integrative Chiropractic and Extremities, our goal isn't just to help you feel better. It's to help you move better, function better, and stay active doing the things you love.
